What is rehabilitative ultrasound?
Rehabilitative ultrasound is used by our pelvic floor PTs as a diagnostic and feedback tool. Sometimes called, Real time ultrasound, this tool allows us to visualize muscles. The information gathered by the real time ultrasound can be used for functional retaining for a variety of conditions such as incontinence, core strengthening and low back pain.
It is 100% safe! You should not feel any pain. There is some research that indicates it is not recommended to use during your first trimester of pregnancy, so if you happen to be that person- we just don’t do it!
Is it safe?
ANY PERSON of all genders and ages! Rehabilitative ultrasound technology allows you and your physical therapist to see how your muscles are working (or if they aren’t!). We can use this tool to support your efforts to use certain muscles while lunging, jumping, squatting and doing other movements that engage the pelvic floor.
